A Modern Love Story

Like many modern love stories, Nancy & Derek's journey began on Hinge. Despite their demanding careers in medicine, this laid-back couple found themselves drawn together by their shared passion for adventure, whether jetting off to distant destinations or simply taking long walks together. Their story began in May 2021 with a first date at a Brazilian restaurant, and their connection deepened during their first getaway to Spain.

A Wedding Day Filled with Personal Touches

Their wedding day beautifully reflected their shared interests, weaving their love of fine cuisine and classical music throughout every moment, from the ceremony to the final dance. Seeking an atmosphere that was both relaxed and refined, they created a celebration that perfectly balanced traditional elegance with romantic touches.

The Perfect Venue: Willowdale Estate

Nestled in the picturesque North Shore of Massachusetts, Willowdale Estate provided the perfect setting for their vision. The historic Tudor Revival property, with its seamless blend of outdoor beauty and stately architecture, offered an ideal backdrop for their classic, clean-lined celebration. Though the April morning began under gloomy skies, the day transformed into a sun-filled celebration, flooding their ceremony space with natural light.

Honoring Heritage Through Traditional Chinese Elements

The couple thoughtfully incorporated Chinese wedding traditions throughout their celebration, creating a beautiful fusion of cultures. Guests were delighted to receive traditional party favors, each containing a meaningful token of good fortune. The wedding cake was adorned with a custom cake topper featuring the double happiness symbol (囍), elegantly rendered in red. As evening approached, both bride and groom honored Chinese wedding customs with a wardrobe change – the bride stunning guests in a traditional red qipao embroidered with beautiful pearls and lace, while the groom complemented her look with a matching tang suit, symbolizing joy and prosperity in their new life together.

A Memorable Cocktail Hour & Reception

As guests moved into the cocktail hour, they were greeted by a thoughtful touch – a welcome sign featuring an engagement photo from the couple's pre-wedding travels to China. The reception space artfully combined indoor and outdoor elements, with warm colors creating an inviting atmosphere. Thanks to unexpectedly beautiful April weather, guests enjoyed the brick patio, surrounded by the estate's magnificent stone walls.

Dancing the Night Away

The evening unfolded with a fun time for all to enjoy – from a lively photo booth to artisanal mini cakes and the energy of a live band that are unbeatable! As the celebration drew to a close, the band offered a fitting finale with The Drifters' "Save the Last Dance for Me," perfectly capturing the romantic spirit of Nancy & Derek's special day.
